Diego (he/him)
Diego Castillo is a distinguished debater, graduating having earned the 5th rank in the nation by the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) in World Schools Debate. His achievements include clinching the NSDA National Championship in WSD in 2021 and emerging victorious at the Greenhill Fall Classic in 2021 after consecutive final appearances. Diego also reached semifinals at prestigious events such as TFA State and the Blake Tournament in 2020. Notably, he advanced to the quarterfinals at European 2021, securing a top speaker award. Having completed his high school debate career at Alief Elsik High School, Diego now competes in American Parliamentary and British Parliamentary as a member of the Brown Debating Union. He reached Grand Finals at the Ramadan Debate Open 2024, quarterfinals at the massive NYU ProAm tournament 2024, and has earned several novice speaker awards, including at Uhuru Worlds in which Diego got 17th overall speaker out of over 700 debaters.
Aspirations
After undergrad, Diego hopes to attend graduate university to pursue a degree in International and Public Affairs with a focus on public policy. For his career, Diego aspires to work at a Think Tank related to Criminal Justice, teach as a professor, write as a journalist or author, and continue to help Space City Camp thrive.
